Canada researches chairs' gender
I have a question for Mr. Durocher. Since he has not been micromanaging the universities, how did he reach the conclusion that the percentage of chairs awarded to women is too low? Isn't it possible, at least in principle, that each and every chair that was awarded so far was awarded to the most competent person available? Isn't it even possible, at least in principle, that the percentage of those chairs that has been awarded to men would have been even higher than it is now, if universities had not been desperately trying to give as many as possible of those chairs to women?
